BOOK NOW

Fresh seafood, breathtaking cultural and natural wonders, thrilling nightlife,  sizzling Mediterranean passion, Greece is a fascinating and enchanting destination – whether lounging on a sandy stretch, or exploring ancient relics.

Greece’s urban hubs are home to some of the world’s most glorious and prized ancient and medieval architecture – such as Athens’ white marble Parthenon and Thessaloniki’s proud Byzantine churches – and the setting of some of humankind’s oldest tales. On the coast, find bustling, umbrella-peppered beaches and secluded sandy coves, washed by turquoise waters and regularly doused in sunshine.

Off shore, Greece’s 1400 islands, such as party-hard Mykonos and picturesque Santorini, offer a rainbow of paradisiacal settings for an idyllic island-hopping adventure. Find true Mediterranean peace on Kefalonia and Amorgos, ideal hiking terrain on the peaks and troughs of Crete, and prime scuba diving and sea kayaking conditions around pretty much every coastal corner.

But to explore the islands in the best way possible, you should charter a sailing boat. This can be bareboat (where you only hire the boat, but one of your group will need to have a sailing license), with a skipper, or as part of a flotilla (a group of six to ten boats, lead by an expert). Most sailing holidays last one week, and give you the luxury of being able to explore hidden coves, put down anchor in an emerald bay and swim, or moor up along the quay in one of Greece’s countless little fishing villages.

Feast on healthy Mediterranean fare, prepared with local seasonal produce and plenty of olive oil. Greek cuisine is more than just standard moussaka and kebabs, as the plethora of eateries serving ‘modern taverna’ fare attest – think salads with rocket and pomegranate, tasty casseroles combining pork and prunes, and delicious seafood dishes served with unexpected flavours such as aubergine or fennel. Some of the wines are pretty good too.

Do as the locals do a take an afternoon nap to restore energy for Greece’s hedonistic nightlife – chi-chi cocktail bars, open-air concerts and dancing on the beach below a starlit sky. Call it narcisstic, but the Greeks certainly know how to party.

When it comes to places to stay, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Those looking for extreme comfort might opt for a five-star resort complete with a luxurious spa and villas with private plunge pools, or a quaint boutique hotel furnished with traditional antique furniture, while those who prefer a back-to-nature escape can simply pitch a tent under a tree with a sea view at one of Greece’s many well-equipped campsites.

Greece and predominantly the Greek Islands continue to attract many charter visitors every year. Greece offers an abundance of charter opportunities from the ancient cities of the mainland steeped in history and natural beauty to the myriad of islands which stretch towards the Turkish coastline. Whether you’re looking for a vacation saturated in the remnants of an alluring history or to island hop between the Saronic, Ionian or Cyclades islands, Greece is boundless in charter opportunities.

The Greek waters encompass a plethora of islands which can be devised into six main clusters from the Sporades Islands down to the island of Crete which marks the southernmost tip of the Aegean Sea. Each group boasts its own identity and is unique in charm and appeal. Charter vacations tend to predominantly take place in three island groups which are the Ionian Islands the Argo-Saronic Islands and the Cyclades. All of which lie within closer proximity of the country’s capital of Athens which makes for favourable cruising time and thus lower fuel costs.

Although there are many stunning islands lying outside of these popular charter groups, such as Crete Dodecanese, they tend to lie much closer to Turkey than Greece, making for lengthy cruising times which will result in less than appealing fuel bills. The Greek Islands offer endless opportunities for spectacular cruising and although marina facilities are a rarity here, this only makes for more beautiful coastlines.

Encompassing beauty, history and crystalline waters, Greece offers a profusion of delights to be had from the bustling mainland to the secluded crescents of islands and with some of them only accessible by boat, this region makes for a seductive and enthralling cruising destination. Meander between sugar-hued houses, roam amongst olive groves and vineyards and stroll amongst the ancient ruins where the haunting allures of a legendary past are almost palpable. Reasons to visit

Climate

Nearly perfect climate conditions allow you to enjoy all four seasons across the country. Not too hot but not too cold either.

History

See some of the most amazing monuments of the world, such as the Archaeological Site of Delphi or the medieval town of Mystras, in the Peloponnese.

Cuisine

The world’s most exquisite Mediterranean flavors for you to enjoy. Based on fresh products. Recipes perfected over time, by generations of Greek families.

Acropolis

And the Acropolis Museum. Origins of Western civilization. The floor in the museum is constructed of clear plexiglass, so you can see the active excavation sites under your feet! Just make sure you aren’t wearing a skirt :)

The Beaches

Greek beaches consistently rank in the top ten for best European beaches and best beaches overall, and for a good reason.

The Islands

Out of this world… Rhodes, Mykonos, Crete, Santorini… Small islands are also worth exploring.

Need to know

Prepare to wait...

Time is relative in Greece when it comes to buses, trains and ferries. They run late. They are early. But they are never on time :)

Have cash

Make sure you have enough cash. Always have a credit card with you. ATM’s are everywhere, but many restaurants do not accept credit cards.

Toilets

Do not throw the paper in the toilet, but in the small bins instead, next to the toilette. These bins are emptied by the cleaning staff. Greeks are different…

Electricity

220V – European standard. You might need a plug adapter.

Drugs

Greece is the country with some of the strictest drug laws in Europe. You are prohibited to use even light drugs, like marijuana. Tourists are not exempt in the application of these drug laws.

Traffic

Pay attention when crossing a street – drivers seem to totally ignore pedestrian signs. Don’t expect them to slow down.
